The RUMblers had lots of fun sharing during Pesta Ubin.
|
We're delighted to have the Ministers
at the Mangrove photo booth! |
At the
RUM booth, we shared how through the
Ecological Mangrove Restoration method, we hope to naturally restore mangroves at abandoned aquaculture ponds on Pulau Ubin.
We shared awesome mangrove specimens, cool mangrove field gear, about studies of the fishes in Ubin mangroves, and MORE! Also gave out FREE
mangrove colouring sheets!
|
We're all ready to share about mangroves! |
The Mangrove Photo Booth was a great hit! Here's
all the photos we could find of the booth!

Here's some
live photos shared of the RUMblers day at Pesta Ubin.
The FREE
boat tour of Ubin's mangroves were hugely popular! Before the tour, Prof Dan Friess gives everyone a briefing about what RUM is about.
Phillip Lim of Sea Angel and Ubin fish farmer who provided the boat trips also gave a briefing.
Senior Minister of State Desmond Lee joined the volunteers on a boat trip!

The FREE
walking tours of Ubin's mangroves near Ubin Town were hugely popular too! Despite the drizzle, many bravely joined us to learn about the mangroves and how we can restore them.

Thanks to
Lee Yee Ting for these awesome photos of somewhat soggy RUMblers conducting the mangrove walk.
The RUMblers (plus Pesta Ubin volunteers Vanessa Teo, Mohammad Juhari and Catherine Ho) had a short rest in the evening, before getting ready for another day of outreach!
The next morning, the RUMblers were back at work for
Balik Chek Jawa, the Chek Jawa Open House!
|
Kids love to learn about mangroves! |
|
As usual, the Mangrove Photo Booth is a huge hit! |
In total, we reached out to about 790 people over the weekend. On Ubin Day, about 200 people at the booth, 120 through the mangrove walk and 70 through the mangrove boat tours; and during Balik Chek Jawa, about 400 people.
The RUMblers hope to have some activities soon for volunteers to get involved in learning about and restoring mangroves at Pulau Ubin!
